imageSonya Blade

General Sonya Blade is a video game character from the Mortal Kombat series. Debuting in the original Mortal Kombat game from 1992, she was a late addition to the game as developers decided deep into the development cycle that the game needed a female character. In the series canon she is the commanding officer of the United States Special Forces and later of a specialized U.S. government agency. Her goal in most of the games is to pursue and capture Kano, as well as eliminate his criminal syndicate, the Black Dragon. In later games she is joined in this effort by her comrade Jax and her daughter Cassie Cage.

One of the original seven player characters of the Mortal Kombat franchise, Sonya has featured in almost all of the games since her inception. She has also appeared in alternate MK media such as the two live-action films; the animated series Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm and the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy; and print media such as the 1995 Mortal Kombat novel and the Malibu comic series, in addition to some official merchandise.

Lieutenant Sonya Blade is one of the main heroes of the Mortal Kombat series. She hails from Austin, Texas, and is a second-generation United States Special Forces officer, following in the footsteps of her father, Major Herman Blade (other family members include Sonya's mother, Erica, and deceased twin brother, Daniel). Her impulsiveness is catalyzed by her superior and good friend Major Jackson "Jax" Briggs. Sonya has a long-standing feud with a thug known as Kano, who stands for everything Sonya despises.

imageJohnny Cage

Johnny Cage is a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise. He debuted as one of the series' original seven characters in the first Mortal Kombat, and has since become a staple of the series. Created as a parody of martial arts actor and famous karate practitioner Jean-Claude Van Damme, Cage is a cocky and overconfident martial arts film actor who provides the comic relief of the franchise. He became a more layered character in Mortal Kombat X, which introduced his and Sonya Blade's daughter Cassie Cage.

Cage has featured extensively in alternate series media including the two feature films, the Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series, comic books, and official series merchandise. General and critical reception of the character has been mostly positive for multiple factors such as his role in the series, his characterization, gameplay, and Fatality finishing moves.

Johnny Cage, birth name John Carlton, is a martial artist and actor who enters Shang Tsung's Mortal Kombat tournament simply to prove that he does not rely on special effects in his films, and is the lone character therein who does not share a past history with any of the game's other characters. In the 1993 sequel Mortal Kombat II, Cage disappears from the set of his latest film after following Liu Kang into Outworld, where he joins forces with his fellow warriors who fight in a second tournament in an attempt to protect Earth against evil Outworld emperor Shao Kahn.

Cage did not reappear in the regular series continuity until 1996's Mortal Kombat Trilogy, in which he was killed by Kahn's forces invading Earth. He is, however, shortly after revived so he can help his former comrades defeat Kahn. In Mortal Kombat 4 (1997), Cage is allowed to continue his life after Raiden accommodates his request for his revival, and reunites with his friends once again in order to defeat the forces of the disgraced Elder God Shinnok, who plans to initiate a war between the realms.

John T. Clark (real name John Terrence Kelly) is a fictional character created by Tom Clancy who appears in many of Clancy's novels.

John Kelly was born in 1944 in Indianapolis to Irish American Catholic parents. His father, Timothy Kelly, was a fireman who perished from a heart attack during a fire while saving two children. John lost his mother to cancer when he was a young boy. He attended Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School in Indianapolis.

His first wife, Patricia, for whom his second daughter would eventually be named, was killed in a car accident when her car went under a tractor/trailer unit. She was pregnant at the time.

Six months after his wife died, Kelly spent a brief period in a relationship with Pamela Madden, a former prostitute who had been forced into working as a courier for a drug ring, and who worked with Kelly to bring her former captors to justice. Together, they scouted out the area in which Pamela used to work, intending to share the information with a police contact of Kelly's. While there, Pam was spotted by her former captors and a chase ensued. Thinking that he had lost them, Kelly stopped to talk to Pamela. The traffickers, however, caught up to Kelly's vehicle, shot him, and captured Pamela. She was later tortured and murdered, and her body dumped in a fountain.

While recovering from his injuries at Johns Hopkins Hospital, he met his future second wife, nurse Sandra "Sandy" O'Toole. They eventually had two daughters, Patricia Doris and Margaret Pamela. The girls' middle names were taken from two girls whom Kelly had temporarily rescued from the drug ring, who eventually murdered them. Patricia, a doctor, went on to marry Domingo "Ding" Chavez, who worked with Kelly (who at this point had adopted the identity of John Clark) in the CIA during a black operation in Colombia (see Clear and Present Danger), and later as an assault team leader. In Rainbow Six, Patricia gave birth to a son, John Conor Chavez, making John a grandfather.

imageJohn Connor

John Connor is a fictional character of the Terminator franchise. Created by writer and director James Cameron, the character is first referred to in the 1984 film The Terminator and first appears in its 1991 sequel Terminator 2: Judgment Day initially portrayed by Michael Edwards (briefly as the older Connor) and then by teenage actor Edward Furlong throughout the remainder of the film; in addition, Linda Hamilton's real-life son Dalton Abbot played John as a toddler in a dream sequence. The character is subsequently portrayed by 23-year-old Nick Stahl in the 2003 film Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and by 19-year-old Thomas Dekker in the 2008 television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Welsh-English actor Christian Bale portrays 33-year-old Connor in the film series's fourth installment, Terminator Salvation, and Australian actor Jason Clarke portrays a 44-year-old Connor, who becomes the T-3000 and serves as the antagonist of the film series's fifth installment, Terminator Genisys.

In the narrative of his fictional universe, John Connor is a messianic figure (born on 28th of February 1985) who will lead the Resistance to defeat an empire of robotic Terminators amassed by Skynet (the rogue military supercomputer) following Judgment Day (a cybernetic revolt doomsday event). When his mother Sarah Connor became the target of a time travelling Terminator unit (T-800 (Model 101)) in the first film The Terminator, John sent resistance fighter Kyle Reese to protect her, knowing Kyle and Sarah would later conceive John himself. With foreknowledge from his parents, John fends off Terminator assassination attempts in the second and third films before Judgment Day. In the fourth film, John fights with the Resistance in a post-apocalyptic setting after Skynet has taken over. As the series' central plot heavily involves the concept of time travel, the story of the character is often non-linear and portrays many possible outcomes, for example The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Terminator 3 both continue from the ending of Terminator 2 but are depicted as taking place in alternate timelines, while in Terminator Genisys (2015) revisits and changes the events of 1984's The Terminator.

imageDestro

Laird James McCullen Destro XXIV, usually referred to simply as Destro, is a fictional character from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toyline, comic books and cartoon series. He is the leader of the Iron Grenadiers, and founder of M.A.R.S. Industries, a weapons manufacturer and supplier for Cobra. Destro is portrayed by Christopher Eccleston in the 2009 live-action film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Born in Callander, Scotland, Destro's full name is James McCullen Destro XXIV, and he is Laird of the Castle Destro in the Scottish Highlands. The Destro clan has designed and sold weapons for centuries, and Destro is the faceless power behind their current incarnation—M.A.R.S. (Military Armament Research System), a state-of-the-art weapons manufacturer and one of the largest multinational corporations in the world. As a businessman, Destro is cutthroat and unyielding and is able to maintain apartments and office buildings in most major cities of the world. His luxurious lifestyle outdoes most oil sheiks or shipping magnates. War is his business and passion: Destro believes in the spoils of war and the vast wealth M.A.R.S. provides. He hires mercenaries to stir up conflict in dangerous regions, then provides high-tech arms to any side able to meet his price. Continuing a tradition started by the first Destro, he will even sell to both sides of the same war.

Destro's key characteristics are his sense of honor, a calm demeanor, and love for Cobra's second-in-command, the Baroness. He wears a mask forged from beryllium steel, a tradition dating back to the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, when an ancestor of his was caught by Cromwell's men in the act of selling weapons to both sides. Forced to wear a steel mask for his crimes (neither side wanted to execute the ancestor because they still wanted the weapons he sold), the Destro clan has since turned it into a symbol of pride, passing it down from father to son for over 20 generations. He also wears on a neck chain his family crest bearing an ancient Scottish emblem symbolizing absolute power. Destro will sometimes enter battle himself, either as a member of Cobra Command, or against them if it's better for business. He respects the G.I. Joe Team for their combat skills, but detests them for wasting their skills to maintain peace. Destro and Cobra Commander despise each other but maintain an alliance of convenience. Although twice the tactician and three times the soldier of Cobra Commander, Destro's sense of honor works to his disadvantage in the face of Cobra Commander's ruthlessness.

imageLara Croft

Lara Croft is a British fictional character and the main protagonist of the Square Enix (previously Eidos Interactive) video game franchise Tomb Raider. She is presented as a beautiful, intelligent, and athletic English archaeologist-adventurer who ventures into ancient, hazardous tombs and ruins around the world. Created by a team at UK developer Core Design that included Toby Gard, the character first appeared in the 1996 video game Tomb Raider. She has also appeared in video game sequels, printed adaptations, a series of animated short films, feature films (portrayed by Angelina Jolie), and merchandise related to the series. Official promotion of the character includes a brand of apparel and accessories, action figures, and model portrayals. Croft has also been licensed for third-party promotion, including television and print advertisements, music-related appearances, and as a spokesmodel. As of June 2016, Lara Croft has been featured on over 1,100 magazine covers surpassing any supermodel.

Core Design handled initial development of the character and the series. Inspired by Neneh Cherry and comic book character Tank Girl, Gard designed Lara Croft to counter stereotypical female characters. The company modified the character for subsequent titles, which included graphical improvements and gameplay additions. American developer Crystal Dynamics took over the series after the 2003 sequel Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness was received poorly. The new developer rebooted the character along with the video game series. The company altered her physical proportions, and gave her additional ways of interacting with game environments. Croft has been voiced by six actresses in the video game series: Shelley Blond (1996), Judith Gibbins (1997–98), Jonell Elliott (1999–2003), Keeley Hawes (2006–14), Camilla Luddington (2013–present) and Abigail Stahlschmidt (2015).

imageSarah Connor (Terminator)

Sarah Jeanette Connor is a fictional character in the Terminator franchise. She is the main protagonist of The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator Genisys, as well as the television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. The character develops from a timid damsel in distress victim in the first film to a wanted fugitive committing acts of terrorism, and a hardened warrior and mother who sacrificed everything for her son's future and is on the verge of losing touch with her own humanity. As of the fifth film, she is reimagined as a young, headstrong heroine determined to take control of her own destiny.

Sarah was portrayed by Linda Hamilton in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, by Lena Headey in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and by Emilia Clarke and Willa Taylor in Terminator Genisys.

Very little is known about Sarah's life prior to May 12, 1984. The Terminator does not specify her age or birth date, although according to the original script (available on the Special Edition DVD), she was 19 years old. The film was primarily set on May 12–14, 1984; according to the script, her birth date would be between May 15, 1964, and May 11, 1965.

In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah's psychologist states she is 29. The film takes place when John (born February 28, 1985) is 10, placing Sarah's birth date between March 1, 1965, and February 25, 1967, making her either 17, 18, or 19 during The Terminator. Many of the franchise's hardcore fans and writers of "Terminator" novels have speculated Sarah's exact date of birth is November 13, 1965, because this date is compatible with her given age in The Terminator and her stated age by the end of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in the final episode "Born to Run".

imageLuc Deveraux

Luc Deveraux is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Universal Soldier film series. He is most famously portrayed by Belgian actor and martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme. Van Damme portrays Luc in the 1992 film Universal Soldier and its sequels Universal Soldier: The Return (1999), Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2009), and Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012); he is portrayed by Matt Battaglia in the direct-to-video sequels Universal Soldier II: Brothers in Arms (1998) and Universal Soldier III: Unfinished Business (1999).

He first appears in Universal Soldier as GR44, a deceased Vietnam War soldier. Luc becomes a Universal Soldier, or UniSol, after being reanimated in a secret government project, along with other previously dead soldiers. He serves as a remotely controlled super soldier, sent into the most dangerous situations and facing odds too great for the average soldier.

A recurring theme in the series is that he is the only UniSol strong enough to actively resist his conditioning and become more human, though a return to normal functioning seems almost impossible.

In a twist to the usual format of the series, Deveraux serves as the main antagonist in the latest entry, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning.
