The 1997 Players Championship was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour contested from March 27–30 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It was the 24th Players Championship. Steve Elkington won the tournament by seven strokes from Scott Hoch. It was Elkington's second success in the event, having also won it in 1991.
This was the 16th Players Championship held at the TPC at Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
