The 2015 Great Lakes Premier League season was the 103rd season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States, and the first season of the GLPL. The season began in May 2015.
Having been denied as expansion clubs by the National Premier Soccer League, AFC Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids FC entered discussions with other regional teams about starting up a league of their own. The first league meeting occurred on Saturday, January 17th 2015 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Two weeks later, the league announced a starting line-up of five clubs.
A double-round robin format was used by the league. The team with the most points at the end of the season was crowned league champions. There were no playoffs.
