The 2016–17 season is AS Monaco FC's fourth consecutive season in Ligue 1 since promotion from Ligue 2 in 2013. They are participating in the Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Coupe de la Ligue. After beating Fenerbahçe and Villarreal in succession, Monaco qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, and they sealed their place in the Round of 16 as group winners following a 2–1 defeat of Tottenham Hotspur.
