The 2017–18 Sheffield Shield season will be the 116th season of the Sheffield Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in Australia. It is scheduled to start on 26 October 2017 and finish on 26 March 2018. The opening round of matches will be played as day/night fixtures and the first three rounds of matches will take place before the Ashes series.Victoria are the defending champions.
