The CONCACAF Council, at its July 25, 2017 meeting in San Francisco, California approved the implementation of the following competitions for affiliated clubs of Caribbean Member Associations starting in 2018:
The winner of the CPCC will qualify automatically to the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League. The second and third place teams will qualify to the 2018 CONCACAF League. The fourth place team will play one match against the winner of the CACC to determine the fourth Caribbean spot to the 2018 CONCACAF League.
Cibao are the title holders, but are not eligible to enter since they failed to reach the final of the 2017 Liga Dominicana de Fútbol.
The tournament is open to all league champions and runners-up from each of the 31 CFU member associations, for any competition that ends in the 2017 calendar year.
