4X2=8 is the eighth studio album by South Korean singer Psy. The album was released digitally on May 10, 2017 by YG Entertainment.

On May 1st, YG Entertainment officially announced PSY's comeback by unveiling a poster about the comeback schedule on the company's official blog, with the name of the album 4X2=8. From May 4 till May 7, the track list were released, revealing the title track and collaboration with Big Bang's members G-Dragon and Taeyang, iKON's members B.I and Bobby, Zico, Tablo, Lee Sung-kyung and Park Jin-young as a producer. One day before the release of the album, illustration teaser images have been unveiled for each song in the album.

Most of the songs were written and composed by YG Family artist, unlike his last album Chiljip Psy-da which was featured with non-YG artists. Psy said in an interview that he wanted young blood for the album, and didn't want it to sound old, so he worked with B.I, who worked in three tracks of the album. Big Bang's Taeyang featured for "Love"; ikon's B.I and Bobby for "Bomb"; and actress Lee Sung-kyung, for "Last Scene"; Tablo participated in writing the lyrics and featuring of "Auto Reverse" with B.I. Big Bang's G-Dragon took part in the lyrics and featuring for "Fact Assault", the song is notable for having profanity, Psy said "this track has so much profanity and doesn't even expect it to pass the censorship test.". "New Face" also pays homage to 2 Live Crew's song "We Want Some Pussy" off of their 1986 album The 2 Live Crew Is What We Are, as the lyrics are sung in the same way.

Actor Lee Byung-hun acted in its music video of "I Luv It", while for "New Face" Apink's Son Na-eun played the title role in the music video. The music videos reach 8 million views together within 14 hours, "I Luv It" surpassing 4 million views and "New Face" surpassed 3.7 million views.
