Aaditi Pohankar is an Indian film and stage actress. She made her feature film debut with the blockbuster film Lai Bhaari starring Riteish Deshmukh in (2014). She has received an Imfaa award for the Best Debutant female. As a stage actress she has trained under Pt Satyadev Dubey and worked with theatre veteran Makarand Deshpande. Aaditi is a singer, training in Hindustani classical music at Dr Pt Ajay Pohankars Gurukul from her guru Anjali Pohankar, she has also trained in classical dance Kathak for 3 years from Avartan school of Kathak with her guru Nutan Patwardhan, who is a disciple of Pt Birju Maharajji.

Aaditi Pohankar was born on the 31st of December 1994, to engineer couple Sudhir and Shobha Pohankar. She is related to classical maestro Dr Pt Ajay Pohankar, who is her uncle. Her sister Nivedita Pohankar is a playwright engaged to actor, director Makarand Deshpande. Aaditi was a former athlete - winning Gold for Maharashtra and then training and running for India in 100, 200 Meters, sprinting category. Inclined to sports at a very young age she played badminton for the state and then shifted to sprinting. Her achievement in sports got her noticed for an audition for Chak de India which is where the shift in her career began.

Aaditi was spotted by director Nishikant Kamat when he saw Makarand’s play Time Boy in Mumbai, where the actress starred as a seven year old boy. Kamat made Aaditi go through two days of screen tests for a role in his Marathi film Lai Bhaari (2014) and cast her opposite Riteish Deshmukh after being impressed with her temperament. Aaditi revealed that during the shoot, Kamat gave her the liberty to do what she wanted as an actress and to get into her character, she visualised herself as "an evil person".Lai Bhaari opened to positive reviews, with Aaditi's villainous character of Nandhini drawing critical acclaim. The film, which featured guest appearances by Salman Khan and Genelia D'Souza, went on to become the most profitable Marathi film of all time upon release. Post the success of the film, Aaditi was considered for films including Prakash Jha's Jai Gangaajal (2016), Ram Gopal Varma's Mogali Puvvu and the musical comedy Abhi Nahi Toh Kabhi Nahi, but eventually did not feature.
