Among their services are also VoIP home phone service.
Acanac was established in 2004 as a wholesaler providing lower prices than that of large incumbent ISPs in Canada.
In 2009, Acanac along with Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS) brought a case to court against Bell Canada. Their argument was against Bell's decision to impose new internet charges to wholesale customers.
In 2011, Acanac was acquired by parent company Distributel.
In 2015, Acanac was featured in a privacy report by CBC along with all major incumbent and independent providers in Canada where most of the smaller independent providers received a low privacy score.
