Alex Breingan is a New Zealand television producer. He currently serves as one of the Executive Producers, and creator, of New Zealand's 'The Cafe' TV Show on Three. Breingan also co-founded New Zealand's Choice TV lifestyle channel in 2012.
Breingan was raised in Lyme Regis, England. After leaving Durham University, he went on to work as an intern for BBC Radio 1.
Breingan spent over 15 years working in radio. This included working as New Zealand's Mediaworks Radio Operations Manager, and Assistant Programme Director for both More FM and RadioLIVE. He began his media career in the mid 1990s in UK commercial radio, and later as a producer at the BBC working with Jools Holland. British radio stations included BBC Radio 2, Heart 106.2FM, 2-Ten FM, Virgin Radio, Orchard FM. Breingan moved to NZ in 2002 with his Radio and TV Producer wife Rachel Hart, and co-hosted Radio Live's Design and Build Show with Hamish Dodd for six years. Breingan moved from radio into TV, to work as Channel Manager for New Zealand's Food TV and Living Channel.
Alex Breingan is the current Managing Director of media agency Stripe Media, based on Auckland's North Shore. As part of The Cafe, Breingan interviewed Suits actor Gabriel Macht which gained over 200,000 views.
Breingan is also Executive Producer and creator of the reality renovation show 100 Day Bach.
Breingan married Radio and TV Producer Rachel Hart in 2002. They have two children.
