Almería is one of the eight constituencies (Spanish: circunscripciones) represented in the Parliament of Andalusia—the regional legislature of the Spanish autonomous community of Andalusia—. Almería is the only town with a population of over 100,000, accounting for nearly a third of the electorate in the province. The next largest municipalities, with a population of over 50,000, are Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido.
Voting is on the basis of universal suffrage in a secret ballot. Only lists polling above 3% of valid votes in each district (which includes blank ballots—for none of the above) are entitled to enter the seat distribution.
