Almira Township is a civil township of Benzie County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the township population was 3,645, up from 2,811 at the 2000 census.
Almira Township is in the northeast corner of Benzie County. The village of Lake Ann is east of the center of the township, on the northeast shore of the lake of the same name. The unincorporated community of Maple Grove is on the southwest shore of Lake Ann, and the community of Hardwood Acres is east of the village of Lake Ann, extending to the eastern border of the township.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.0 square miles (93.3 km2), of which 33.7 square miles (87.4 km2) is land and 2.3 square miles (5.9 km2), or 6.29%, is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,811 people, 1,054 households, and 808 families residing in the township. The population density was 83.2 per square mile (32.1/km²). There were 1,320 housing units at an average density of 39.0 per square mile (15.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.69% White, 0.21% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.25% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.14% of the population.
