Angella Reid is the White House Chief Usher, becoming on October 2011 the first woman and the second African American following her predecessor, Stephen W. Rochon, to serve in that post.
Reid was born in Saint Thomas Parish, Jamaica, and attended high school in Kingston, Jamaica, before emigrating to the United States.
Prior to becoming White House Chief Usher, Reid amassed over 25 years of experience in hotel management with Ritz-Carlton managing properties in Miami, Florida; Washington, D.C.; and Arlington, Virginia.
As White House Chief Usher, Reid is responsible for management of White House operations in collaboration with several organizations, including the White House Historical Association, the Committee for the Preservation of the White House, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, the White House Curator, and the National Park Service.
Reid was recognized at the 2012 Grio Awards.
