Ar de Rock (literally Air of Rock, meaning "a rock look"; a pun on hard rock) is Rui Veloso's debut album released in 1980. More than just a revelation by the singer-composer Rui Veloso and a lyricist Carlos Tê, Ar de Rock it was one of the albums which partly captured the zeitgeist of the time.
The album features eleven songs, two of which were the successful singles "Chico Fininho" and "A Rapariguinha do Shopping", bringing commercial success to Portuguese Rock which made famous other numerous musicians of the time. In 2000, some of the songs were recorded by other artists in the tribute album 20 anos depois - Ar de Rock.
The album was recorded and mixed for three days at RPE Studios in Lisbon in 1980. Ar de Rock was the epicenter of Portuguese rock.
