Ariel Enrique Holan (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈxorxe jolan]; born 14 September 1960) is an Argentine football manager. He is currently the Head Coach and manager of Argentinean Club Atlético Independiente. Holan started out as a youth coach of field hockey and in 2003 switched to soccer. Ariel Holan started with an impressive managerial period at Defensa y Justicia in 2015, and continued with successful periods at Independiente.
On 29 December 2016, Holan signed a 18-months contract with Club Atlético Independiente of Argentina.
He was born in Lomas de Zamora, of the Buenos Aires Province. In his youth, Holan was very passionate about football, playing for amateur sides in his hometown league.
He began his sports career as Coach of field hockey, activity that realized during more than 10 years in the main clubs of Argentina. Being the technical director of the Uruguayan women's field hockey team, he won the bronze medal at the 2003 Pan American Games held in Santo Domingo. The recognition he earned as a trainer allowed him to be invited to dictate soccer clinics in United States in Pennsylvania and Atlantic City.
In the professional soccer began his career in 2003, as member of the team of collaborators of Jorge Burruchaga in his stay by Arsenal And later in Independiente de Avellaneda. Between 2006 and 2008] he served as director of the Independiente Youth Soccer School. Later he joined Jorge Burruchaga as a field assistant when he took over as Head Coach of the Athletic Banfield Club. At the end of the contract, he continued with the same coach in a new step for Arsenal Fútbol Club during the 2009/2010 season.
