Aung Than (Burmese: အောင်သန်း; born 13 November 1935) is a Burmese dentist and known as the father of Myanmar Dentistry. Aung Than was born in Yangon, Myanmar on 13 November 1935. He graduated from University of Medicine 1, Yangon in July, 1960. He received D.D.S. from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1963. He served as the rector in University of Dental Medicine, Yangon from 1964 to 1983; he was the first president of the Myanmar Dental Association (MDA) from 1979 to 1984. He retired as the Myanmar ambassador to Australia.
