Benjamin Clark Cutler was a Boston merchant, who also served as the sheriff of Norfolk County, Massachusetts from 1798 to 1810.
Cutler was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 15, 1756 to John Cutler and Mary (Clarke) Cutler.
Cutler married Sarah Mitchell of Waccamaw Plantation, and Georgetown, South Carolina, Sarah Mitchell's mother was the sister of , the "Swamp Fox" of the American Revolution. They had three children, Benjamin Clark Cutler, Eliza Cutler. and Julia Rush Cutler; Julia was the mother of Julia Ward Howe.
Cutler died in 1810.
