Bharya (ml; ഭാര്യ) is an Indian television series launched on Asianet channel on 16 May airs on Mondays to Saturdays at 09:00PM IST and retelecast at 3:00PM. The promos on about it was already telecasted through the channel from late April.
This show replaced the longest running Malayalam serial Sthreedhanam which telecasted its Final episode on 14th may. Alina who is a popular anchor in Malayalam television makes her debut as an actress through this series as the female lead with negative shades. Sonu who played a negative role in Sthreedhanam plays the character of a simple and humble widow.
Bharya series tells the story of family residing in Vrindavanam. Nandan and Rohini are the children of Prof. Vishwanatha Menon and Jayaprabha Teacher. They lead a life with little contact to the outside world. Rohini was married Vrindavanam's Sarath and widowed but even after 4+ years she is not able to acknowledge this. She lives with her in-laws along with her daughter, she believes Sarath will return. Nandan without his parents notice marries Nayana and takes her to Vrindavanam. The family doesn't know that Nayana and their family are a band of Antisocial's who parasite on others. Nayana's brother Narendran is also their town's infamous rowdy, but for people from Vrindavanam seems to have no idea about it. Narendran lusts after Rohini and Nayana starts to work her cruel and devilish activities. Initially shocked, but the family accepts identity of their daughter in law after a long period. But Nandan doesn't and is blinded by Nayana's feminine charms. Rohini marries Jose for protection from Narendran. Will Nayana's family be successful in their cunning and destructive tactics is what the story explores. The teledrama is a daily bit for vicarious traumatization of ill family styles and instructive aid on such ways.
The show started airing on Asianet on 16 May 2016 and It aired on Monday to Saturday 10:00PM IST. Later its timing changed Starting from Monday 6 June 2016, the show was shifted to 9:00PM IST time Slot due to viewer's Interest.
