Boualem Charef is an Algerian football manager who is currently the manager of Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 club USM El Harrach. His tenure with USMH is the longest of all the current league managers.
Charef was a graduate of the Institut des Sciences et Technologies du Sport in Algiers. During his studies there, he was also the assistant coach to Ali Benfeddad, manager of USM Alger.
In July 2003, Charef was selected by Algeria national football team manager Rabah Saâdane to be his assistant.
On October 1, 2012, Charef was suspended by six months by the league for unsportsmanlike conduct towards a referee.
