Cale Makar (born October 30, 1998) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman and a top eligible prospect in the 2017 NHL entry draft. He currently plays for the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).
Makar scored 24 goals and 51 assists in 54 games with looks like the Brooks Bandits and is considered the best defenceman in the 2017 draft.
Makar is committed to the University of Massachusetts next season. The Medicine Hat Tigers drafted him in the eighth round (No. 164) of the WHL Bantam Draft.
Makar participated in a World Junior A Challenge and was named the tournament’s best defenseman.
If drafted, he would be the first Brooks Bandits player drafted directly into the NHL.
