Candice Keller is the state representative for the 53rd District of the Ohio House of Representatives. She is a Republican. The district consists of a portion of Butler County.

Born, raised and educated in Butler County, Ohio, Keller went on to serve as the director of one pro-life organization in southwestern Ohio, the Community Pregnancy Center, from 2008 to the present. She was also a member of the Central Committee of the Local Republican Party over the years as well.

Keller has been married for 38 years to her husband Kent, who is a retired software company project manager, and is the mother of two married sons, grandmother of six. She resides in Middletown, Ohio.

In 2016, Ohio Representative Tim Derickson was barred from running for a fifth term due to term limits. Keller was one of two Republicans to run to replace Derickson in a heavily Republican seat; she won the primary 59% to 41%. She easily won the general election 65% of the vote over Democrat Susan Rubin.

With Derickson leaving his term early to join the administration of Ohio Governor John Kasich, Keller was appointed to finish the remainder of his term on November 16, 2016.

BUTLER COUNTY — Ohio Rep. Candice Keller, R-Middletown, says she would not have appeared on an Internet podcast if she had known the host pushes an agenda for “the existence of our race and a future for white children.”

The freshman state representative in February went on the “Sonny Thomas Show” to promote her proposed legislation that would crackdown on cities that refuse to enforce federal immigration laws. Keller told this news outlet she mistook the host of the Internet podcast, Brian “Sonny” Thomas, with a Cincinnati-based radio host with a similar name.

“I know nothing about this guy,” Keller said of Thomas. “Until (Monday), I found out he was a white supremacist. That was the first I’d heard of it. Thomas, who is founder of the Springboro Tea Party, has made local and national headlines after he unfurled a Confederate flag at a Springboro school board meeting in a speech defending Constitution classes canceled by the district and his unsuccessful run to unseat an Ohio GOP committee member.
