The chestnut-crowned gnateater (Conopophaga castaneiceps) is a species of bird in the Conopophagidae family. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Foursubspecies are recognized:
