Chontla Municipality in Veracruz, Mexico. It is located in the north of the State of Veracruz, about 220 km from state capital Xalapa. It has a surface of 361.09 km2. It is located at 21°18′N 97°55′W / 21.300°N 97.917°W.
Chontla Municipality is delimited to the west by Tantoyuca Municipality, to the south by Ixcatepec Municipality and Tepetzintla Municipality, to the east by Citlaltepec Municipality and Ozuluama Municipality.
It produces principally maize, beans and chili pepper.
In Chontla, in November takes place the celebration in honor to Santa Catarina.
The weather in Chontla is extremely warm all year with rains in summer.
