"Contemporary American Poultry" is the 21st episode of the first season of the American comedy television series Community. It aired in the United States on NBC on April 22, 2010.
Jeff's (Joel McHale) plan to get chicken fingers from the school cafeteria for the study group quickly evolves into a mafia film-style endeavor with Abed (Danny Pudi) calling all the shots. The episode features several cultural references from mobster films such as Goodfellas and The Godfather.
In the end tag, Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed perform the classic mime escalator illusion for the rest of the study group. The group leaves before they can see them perform the elevator clothing exchange bit.
Around 3.67 million Americans watched "Contemporary American Poultry".
Todd VanDerWerff of The A.V. Club gave the episode an A- calling it "an elaborate Goodfellas parody, executed with panache" and praising the show for how "it manages to find a way to balance all of this with character moments that are genuinely winning and sweet."
