Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 April 2017 by a merger between South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, and primarily provides mental health, learning disability, social care and community services.

Twenty deaths since 2000 at the Linden Centre in Chelmsford are the subject of a police inquiry.
