Faithful Satellite is the seventeenth studio album Australian blues rock band, The Black Sorrows. The album was released on CD and digital download on 16 September 2016, with a 500-copy limited edition 12" double vinyl to be released on 30 September 2016. The vinyl will include eight tracks not on the CD/DD versions.
Jeff Jenkins from Stack Magazine said "Faithful Satellite traverses bluegrass, blues, rockabilly, reggae, rock, gospel and soul. And props to Camilleri's long-time lyricist Nick Smith, who creates vivid images: "And that cold grey moon will be rising soon to watch over me … as we roll into the night, with our faithful satellite." Camilleri delivers the words with a vitality that singers a third his age would love to have. "It's the last time I’ll trudge through the streets of this town," he declares in the record's final track, "Into Twilight", before adding: "I ain’t sayin’ farewell." Of course he's not. He’ll never stop. He can’t. The music is in him."
Paul Cashmere from Noise11 said the album is a ‘masterpiece’ adding "The Faithful Satellite beauty is in its diversity with rock to jazz to bluegrass to country woven through the release, at times often reminding long-time Camilleri fans of the various eras of Black Sorrows music across the last 30 years."
The group toured the album across Australia throughout the second half of 2016.
