Lin Fanghua (Chinese: 林芳华; pinyin: Lín Fānghuá; born 1959), also sometimes written as Fang-Hua Lin, is a Chinese-born American mathematician. He is currently the Silver Professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. He applies rigorous analysis to nonlinear systems and is a leader in this field.

Born in 1959 in Zhenhai County (now Zhenhai District), Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, he graduated from the Department of Mathematics of Zhejiang University in 1981. Lin went to United States to pursue his further study in the Department of Mathematics, University of Minnesota, and obtained his PhD in 1985. From Sept. 1985 to Aug. 1988, he was an instructor at the Courant Institute, New York University. Then he went to the University of Chicago, becoming a full professor there from Aug. 1988 till Aug 1989.

In September 1989, he started his professorship at New York University. He was then awarded the Silver Professorship, Department of Mathematics, Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University.

Lin did important work in Ginzburg–Landau theory.
