Farm to Market Road 1749 or FM 1749 is a two-lane, state-maintained highway. It connects the farming areas near Forestburg with SH 101 at Sunset in far south central Montague County.
FM 1749 was originally designated in 1951 on a route from US 83 in Tuscola to US 84 in Taylor County; this route was quickly combined with FM 613. FM 1749 was redesignated in late 1951 on a route from US 81(now SH 132) in Lytle to Bexar Community in Atascosa and Bexar counties; this route was transferred to Farm to Market Road 1518 in 1953. FM 1749 was again redesignated on a route from Sheffield southwest and southeast 18.3 miles; this route was transferred to FM 1217 in 1954. The current FM 1749 was designated in late 1954 from US 81 (now SH 101) northeast 7.1 miles to a road intersection. FM 1749 was extended to its current end in 1964.
FM 1749 terminates at FM 455 at its northern end and at SH 101 at its southern end.
