Ferris Township is a civil township of Montcalm County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,379 at the 2000 census.
Ferris Township was established in 1857.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93 km2), of which 36.1 square miles (93 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) (0.08%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,379 people, 486 households, and 394 families residing in the township. The population density was 38.2 per square mile (14.7/km²). There were 566 housing units at an average density of 15.7 per square mile (6.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.19% White, 0.29% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.23% of the population.
There were 486 households out of which 38.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 69.1% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.9% were non-families. 15.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.12.
