Fountain is a city in Fillmore County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 410 at the 2010 census. Fountain is the western terminus of the Root River segment of the Blufflands State Trail. Local businesses include Drury's Furniture, local attractions include the Fillmore County History Center.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.83 square miles (2.15 km2), all of it land.
Fountain is claimed as the sinkhole capital of the United States of America due to the prevalence of karst topography.
As of the census of 2010, there were 410 people, 171 households, and 112 families residing in the city. The population density was 494.0 inhabitants per square mile (190.7/km2). There were 177 housing units at an average density of 213.3 per square mile (82.4/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.0% White, 0.2% Native American, 0.5% Asian, 0.7% from other races, and 0.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.0% of the population.
There were 171 households of which 35.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.6% were married couples living together, 7.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.5% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
