Dr. G. Parameshwara (born 6 August 1951) is an Indian Politician, Current Home Minister of Karnataka and who is also President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee since 27 October 2010.
G. Parameshwara's father was a member of Karnataka Legislative Council, H. M. Gangadharaiah and mother was Gangamalamma. He grew up in Gollahalli which is now known as Siddharthanagar.
His primary education was at Gollahalii and Heggere, Tumkur. He went to Sri Siddhartha High School at Golahalli (now renamed as Siddhartha Nagara), which was established by his father. He joined Government Pre University College in Tumkur. After completing his pre-university education he went to study B.Sc. Agriculture in University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Bangalore then M.Sc. Agriculture in the same college. He joined the National Cadet Corps (India) at an early age. He was an athlete and would participate in inter college events representing Gandhi Krushi Vignana Kendra. later he obtained PhD from Waite Agricultural Research Centre, University of Adelaide on Plant Physiology
In 2017, following complaints of being sexually assaulted from numerous women taking part in a new year celebration in Bangalore, G Parmeshwar blamed the victims for the incidents, making sexist remarks about their clothes and suggesting that their clothes could be the cause of their behaviour, causing a controversy.
