Gateway is a census designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,943 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community is located just north of Southwest Florida International Airport.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.7 square miles (23 km2), of which 8.6 square miles (22 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2) (1.72%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,943 people, 1,114 households, and 952 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 344.2 people per square mile (132.9/km²).
