Giorgos Tsalikis (Greek: Γιώργος Τσαλίκης) (born in Stylida, Greece on 25 October 1975) is a Greek singer.
Giorgos Tsalikis is the son of Vasilis and Evgenia Tsaliki. He studied medicine in Romania and as he recalls "The moment I got on a bus to Bucharest, an unknown destination to me, was a nightmare. This brought tears to my eyes". Being a stranger amid strangers he started a new chapter in his life in a town that changed his life. One night in Bucharest was enough to totally change his life course. While partying with his fellow university students at a Greek night club called "Olympia Pallas" and having drunk a bit more, Giorgos stood up, took the microphone and managed to entertain all the people present not only with his voice, but also with his choice of repertoire. The next day he made a significant life changing decision. He decided to begin his singing career instead of becoming a doctor. Despite this decision, he completed his studies in 1998, got his degree and returned to Greece.
His first single titled ‘Genikos’ was produced by Panos Falaras and released by Sony music. At this time he moved to Athens permanently and started appearing with Antonis Remos, Natassa Theodoridou and Stelios Dionysiou at ‘Apollon Palace’. His collaboration with Sony lasted for 2 years and in 2000 he joined Nitro Music. At this time he appeared with Antonis Remos and Sakis Rouvas at ‘Apollona’. In March 2001 he released his first album titled ‘An eimouna paliopedo’ produced by Panos Falaras, who believed in his talent and supported him from the start of his singing career. The song titled ‘Me halaei’ was a huge success and Giorgos became widely known. As a result of this, a great number of people would queue outside the nightclub ‘Romeo’ where he was appearing with Elli Kokkinou and Giorgos’ popularity reached a peak. He also successfully took part in the TV comedy series ‘10 mikroi Mitsoi’, written and produced by Lakis Lazopoulos, with the viewers and critics thrilled by Giorgos. Success followed in 2001 when his first album attained gold certification and he was awarded with the title of ‘Person of the Year 2001’. On 16 April 2002, at ‘ARION’ music awards organized by MEGA, Giorgos received the prize titled ‘BEST NEW SINGER 2001’. His second album titled ‘Gia sena kseniktaw!’ produced by Panos Falaras was released by Nitro music. His songs were played on high rotation on radio in Greece and Cyprus and his album immediately attained gold certification. Giorgos was photographed with supermodel Naomi Campbell for the cover of NITRO magazine, which became the talk of the town. In 2002, he married Dora. He started his appearances with Katy Garbi at ‘Apollona’ and at Christmas he released his single, ‘Mia hara’ which became an instant hit and attained gold certification.
