Godovič (pronounced [ɡɔdɔˈʋiːtʃ] or [ɡɔdɔˈʋitʃ]; German: Godowitsch) is a settlement in the hills southeast of Idrija in the traditional Littoral region of Slovenia.
The name Godovič is based on a personal name with the root *god- (e.g., *Godislavъ, *Godimirъ, etc.), probably referring to something good or favorable. It is related to place names such as Godič, Godemarci, and Godeninci. Locally, the name of the settlement has a mobile accent, pronounced [ɡɔˈdɔːvitʃ], genitive [ɡɔdɔˈviːtʃa].
The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Urban and belongs to the Diocese of Koper.
