Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar (Urdu;گورنمنٹ کالج خواتین ایم اے رُوڈ سرینگر)commonly known as Women's College Srinagar is located on 8.4 acre campus in State summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar near Lal Chowk opposite SP College.It was founded in the year 1950.The college is affiliated to University of Kashmir, recognized by UGC and accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir established the college in 1950, during the reign of the then Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sheikh Mohamad Abdullah.
Women's College Srinagar is situated in the heart of state summer capital of J&K state, Srinagar. It is a premier institution of Higher Learning for women in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.It was established in 1950.The college is affiliated with the University of Kashmir and UGC under 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC Act 1956.The college has a glorious past with excellent academic track record and has played a vital role for education and empowerment of women in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.At present the college is one of the few colleges in the country and so-far the only Degree College in the State of Jammu and Kashmir with NAAC Accredited Grade A, a testimony to the academic excellence and quality culture achieved and maintained by the College.The College joined the elite club of institution with facilities of satellite based education by setting up of an Edusat Hub for Kashmir valley in the College.
