Grandview Medical Center is a 317-bed teaching hospital located on the north-side of Dayton, Ohio in the Five Oaks part of the larger area of Dayton View. Founded in 1926, Grandview Medical Center is a part of the Kettering Health Network. It is also the parent hospital to Southview Medical Center in Centerville, Ohio. Grandview is one of the largest osteopathic teaching hospitals in the United States, operating several residency training and fellowship programs for osteopathic physicians (DO). The residencies are accredited by the American Osteopathic Association.
The hospital is accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) and by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
The last year data was made available, the hospital had 12,585 admissions, performed 2,777 inpatient surgeries and 17,481 outpatient surgeries, and its emergency room had 47,164 visits. According to Dayton Business Journal in 2013, Grandview Medical Center has 203 beds and employs over 1,200 people.
In 1926, Grandview Medical Center was originally founded as Dayton Osteopathic Hospital.
In 1978, Grandview finished the addition of an ambulatory care center south of Dayton in Washington Township. The 60,000 square foot facility would later come to be known as Southview Medical Center.
In 1999, standing as the last independent Osteopathic hospital in the country, Grandview joined with Kettering Medical Center to form the Kettering Health Network (then Kettering Medical Center Network).
In 2013, Grandview completed the New Look West Wing Project. Announced in 2008, the $30 million project resulted in a four-story 70,000 square ft west wing for the hospital. Included in the project were a completely new entrance to the hospital with a redesigned lobby, larger cafeteria, a new gift shop, and a holistic spa.
