Haunted State: Whispers From History Past is a 2014 American documentary film executive produced and directed by Michael Brown. It is the first installment of the Haunted State film series. The film's plot focuses on investigations inside Wisconsin historical locations that have paranormal events take place. The film premiered October 29, 2014 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Founded in 1858 by Anton Fischer, a German immigrant who settled in the area. He opened the location as the Star Brewery. It operated until 1918 when it was sold to Georg (George) Walter (of the Walter Brewing company). The regionally popular beer Adler Brau was brewed until 2004. It was renamed the Stone Cellar Brewpub in 2004 & they again changed the name to Stone Arch Brewpub in 2012 because of a trademark issue.
(Formally known as Irving Schoolhouse) The school opened in 1896 containing four large classrooms. It was heated by a huge coal furnace and had all the latest technology like electricity, adjustable seats & blackboards. The school housed kindergarten through 6th grade. It closed down in 1977 and was abandoned in 1979. It was remained vacant until 2010 when the current owners purchased it. It now is owned as a private residence.
The building was built in 1914 and operated as a feed mill (for nearby farmers) until it was abandoned in the late 1990s. It was purchased in 2013 and renovated as a gift shop.
The Pabst Brewery Complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The brewery was founded in 1844 by Jacob Best (opened as The Empire Brewery) and by 1889 it was named Pabst Brewery, after his son-in-law Captain Frederick Pabst Pabst brewery is known for their most famous beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon, which was brewed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until 1997 when the plant closed. The building was abandoned from 1997 until 2009 when the Pabst Brewing Company Former Corporate Office Building & Visitor's Center was reopened to the public in as "Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery". The usage of "Best" is a reference to the brewery's founders Jacob Best and Phillip Best. The restorations allowed the public to see Blue Ribbon Hall and the "Little Tavern on the Hill." It is enclosed by the building are two courtyards, one of which houses a statue of Captain Frederick Pabst.
