Hawthorne is a city in Alachua County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,417 at the 2010 census.
Hawthorne was laid out in 1881 on land owned by James H. Hawthorne. A post office was established as Hawthorn in 1880, and the spelling was changed to Hawthorne in 1950.
