The helmeted friarbird (Philemon buceroides) is a species of bird in the family Meliphagidae.
It is found in Indonesia and northern Australia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
The hornbill friarbird (P. b. yorki) of Cape York Peninsula and coastal north-eastern Queensland is sometimes considered a subspecies of the helmeted friarbird or as a full species. The same is also true of the New Guinea friarbird (P. b. novaeguineae).
