Here Active Listening is a wireless product created by Doppler Labs that provided users with the ability to control live audio through two earbuds and a connected smartphone application. Once connected, the Here Active Listening application provided a series of audio filters, effects and settings, which augment live audio in real-time. Here Active Listening did not have any streaming functionality and could not be used as a headphone.

Here Active Listening launched on Kickstarter in June 2015, and 2,855 backers pledged $635,189 to help bring the project to life. In the following months the product received different recognitions: was named one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2015, won Cannes Lion Best in Product Design Gold , Inc. Magazine’s Game-Changing Invention of 2015, and SXSW Interactive Innovation 2016 Best of Show and Best Music & Audio Innovation awards .

Hardware

Here Active Listening consisted of two truly wireless earbuds, a charging case and a connected smartphone application. In each earbud are computer systems that use signal processing algorithms that target and transform specific frequency ranges, all in under 30 microseconds, with no perceptible delay in the audio processing.

Software

The Here Active Listening App was made available for iOS and Android.

Doppler Labs brought on a roster of partners and investors from the entertainment and music industries to support Here Active Listening including Hans Zimmer, Quincy Jones, Tiesto, Mark Ronson, and more.
