François began his football career with a team in Dijon. He then played in Saint-Étienne in 1987, and finally in Basel (Switzerland). In 1989, he tried a singing career with his smash hit "Je te survivrai", then with "Il a neigé sur lacs" and "Des Nuits", released in early 1990.
