John Madison, Jr. (1663–1750) was a sheriff, planter, politician, and major landowner in Colonial Virginia. He is the father of Ambrose Madison, the grandfather of James Madison, Sr., and the great-grandfather of President James Madison.
John Madison, Jr. was born in 1663 in St. Stephen's Parish, King and Queen County, Virginia, He was the son of Lt. Col. John Madison, Sr. (1630-1708), and Marie Ambrose (1633-1715). He married Isabella Minor Todd (1665-1755), a widow, in about 1692.
