John Patrick Dolan (born June 8, 1962) is an American prelate of the Catholic Church and auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of San Diego.
Dolan was born June 8, 1962, in San Diego, California. His parents are Catherine and Gerald Dolan. Dolan is the seventh of nine children.
Dolan attended the School of the Madeleine at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in San Diego. He attended the University of San Diego High School and, after graduating in 1981, he enrolled in St. Francis Seminary, a house of formation on the University of San Diego (USD) campus. After graduating with a B.A. in Philosophy in 1985, he entered Saint Patrick's Seminary and University in Menlo Park, Ca. After completing his Masters of Divinity and Master of Arts in Theology in 1989, he was ordained for the Diocese of San Diego.
On July 1, 1989, Dolan was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of San Diego by Bishop Leo Thomas Maher.
Within the diocese, Dolan served as Associate Pastor of St. Michael's Parish in Paradise Hills and Santa Sophia Parish in Spring Valley, Director for Priestly Vocations, Pastor of St. Mary, Star of the Sea in Oceanside, Pastor of St. Michael's in Paradise Hills, Pastor of St. Rose of Lima in Chula Vista, Pastor of St. Michael's in Poway, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist and St. Vincent de Paul in Hillcrest and Mission Hills.
He has served on various boards and committees; including the Ecumenical committee, Presbyteral Council, Personnel Board, Council of Deans, College of Consulters, and Priestly Vocations Task Force. While serving as Pastor at St. Michael's in Poway, Dolan was appointed Vicar for Clergy, a position he still holds as Auxiliary Bishop. He is also a member of the American Haitian Foundation and a founding member and chaplain of the California Lost Boys and Girls of Southern Sudan Foundation.
Dolan has served on medical mission teams to Andahuayllllas, outside of Cusco, Peru, Petite Rivier in Haiti, and Tijuana, Mexico.
