John Plumptre (elder)
John Plumptre (9 February 1679 – 29 September 1751), British politician, was the first son of Henry Plumptre and Joyce Sacheverell.
He was educated at Middle Temple 1696; and Queens’ College, Cambridge. 1697.
He married Annabella, daughter of Sir Francis Molyneux, 4th Baronet and Diana, sister. of Scrope Howe, 1st Viscount Howe.
He entered Parliament as Member of Parliament (MP) for Member for Nottingham in 1706.
He lived in Plumptre House, Nottingham and engaged Colen Campbell to redesign the house between 1724 and 1730.
