The Gerontology Research Group (GRG), an organization that tracks supercentenarians and validates their age claims, has asserted that there have been approximately 140 verified supercentenarians from the United Kingdom. As of 9 June 2018, there are 7 living British supercentenarians, the oldest of whom is Olive Boar from Ipswich, England, born 29 September 1904, aged 113 years, 253 days. Furthermore, there is one emigrant supercentenarian from the United Kingdom, Margaret Vivian from Scotland, born 25 February 1906, aged 112 years, 104 days, living in Australia.

Jeanetta Jane Thomas (2 December 1869 – 5 January 1982) of Llantrisant, Wales was a British supercentenarian and was mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records in the 1980s. Thomas spent her youth in London working as a seamstress. At the age of around 40, she returned to Wales to open a drapery shop, which she ran until the age of 98. She was also the oldest living person in the United Kingdom from 20 October 1980 until her death, at the age of 112 years and 34 days.
