Kounice (German: Kaunitz) is a market town and municipality in Nymburk District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, around 5 km north of the town of Český Brod . The municipality covers an area of 1128 hectarees, and as of 31 December 2013 it had a population of 1275. The first mention of the town dates from 1257.
