Last Chance U is a 2016 documentary series produced by Netflix showcasing the 2015 American football season for East Mississippi Community College. The series was released worldwide on July 29, 2016. Netflix has renewed for a second season following the EMCC Lions, coach Buddy Stephens, and academic advisor Brittany Wagner.
The crew followed the EMCC Lions in 2015 as they attempted to win their third consecutive national championship, fourth in five seasons. The crew is on-site for a brawl that ends the team's season and their chance at the championship.
The series was given a positive review by SB Nation's Jason Kirk who summed it up as a "carefully crafted drama with personalities to care about."
Season one focuses on a handful of players on the squad as well as the head coach and academic advisor.
True to his word, Roberts did not walk-on to Mississippi State. However, after a quarterback transferred out of the team, Head Coach Dan Mullen approached Wyatt, who then walked-on to the team.
