Due to the writers strike, the show went on hiatus on November 5, 2007. The show returned on January 7, 2008, without writers. The writers started again on February 13, 2008.
Stephen briefly mentions Dennis Kucinich dropping out of the U.S. presidential election. He then discusses Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign in the Florida Republican primary. Next, he claims that Frederick Douglass is Hillary Clinton's "new black friend." He also comments on Bill Clinton's attacks on Barack Obama. Stephen then interviews Debra Dickerson about the role of race and gender in politics. Next, Stephen shows footage of the South Carolina Democratic debate and, using a sand sculpture of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards, decides who won. Finally, Stephen interviews Charles Nesson
