World War II: Convoy SC 44: The Flower-class corvette was torpedoed and damaged in the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Farewell, Greenland (60°07′N 38°37′W / 60.117°N 38.617°W) by U-74 ( Kriegsmarine) with the loss of 18 of her 109 crew. Although she was taken in tow, she later capsized and sank. Survivors were rescued by HMCS Agassiz and HMCS Mayflower (both Royal Canadian Navy).
