The Mahar are a Sindhi Arain tribe found among both the Seraiki people of South Punjab, Pakistan as well as being found in Sindh, Pakistan.
The tribe claims descent from Mahar, who was a Arain. In Lilla Thal, they are Jethals
The tribe mostly resides in rural Sindh.
Mahar Tribe living in Sindh, Pakistan is entirely different from the Mahar (caste- now neo Buddhists) living in Maharashtra, India. Both the Mahar Tribe and Mahar Caste have different origins and historical backgrounds.
Mahar is also a title used by the Lali, Lak, Jauhri and Jethal of Punjab.
